A Sun Valley man has been booked on suspicion of murder in connection with a shootout outside a Palmdale nightclub early Monday that killed one man and wounded six other people, including a pregnant teen-ager.

William Lee Knight, 25, is being held without bail at the Antelope Valley sheriff’s station, deputies said. He is accused of fatally shooting Brently E. Young, 30, of Lancaster during a closing-time confrontation in the parking lot of The Old Firehouse bar and restaurant. About 200 people were leaving the bar at the time.

Deputies said Knight and Young both brandished handguns and exchanged shots. Witnesses said Knight walked up to Young, who was wounded and had fallen to the pavement, and fired several shots into his chest. He then allegedly sprayed the crowd with gunfire and exchanged shots with a security guard, according to the club’s owner.

Kella L. Mastrianni, 16, was being treated at Antelope Valley Hospital. The teen-ager and her unborn child were in good condition, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Benita Hinojos. The other wounded victims were identified as Carnel M. Hall, 18; Therman Tatum, 30; Jennifer Allen, 20; Delilah Robinson, 20, and Becky Eigenbrod, 26.

After the shooting, Knight fled in a pickup truck with three other people, officials said. Deputies spotted the speeding truck and stopped it. The other three people in the truck were questioned and released.
