Karate Teacher Charged With Molesting Girl
A 31-year-old karate instructor has been arrested on suspicion of sexually molesting a 15-year-old girl, authorities said Friday.
Maurice Lamont Jones of San Clemente was taken into custody Thursday night at the South Orange County Probation Department in Laguna Niguel, said Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson.
An investigation that began on Aug. 20, after the Sheriff’s Department received a tip, found that the alleged incidents started in 1992 when the girl was 13 and continued until about a month ago, Olson said.
Authorities did not say where the alleged molestations occurred and it is not known if the girl was Jones’ student.
Jones is being held at Orange County Jail on suspicion of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a child. Bail is set at $25,000. He is expected to be arraigned at Municipal Court in Laguna Niguel on Monday.
