Gonzalez Heads Forum Card Tonight
The Forum celebrates its 11th anniversary of fight shows tonight, featuring a card of high-profile fighters stepping back into the ring after layoffs.
Leading the lineup is former junior-flyweight titleholder Humberto Gonzalez of Mexico, who will fight Pablo Tiznado (14-5-2). Gonzalez (35-2) is competing for the first time since his memorable loss to Michael Carbajal in March.
In another 10-rounder, Sylmar’s Gabriel Ruelas (33-2), the World Boxing Council’s No. 1-ranked junior lightweight, fights for the first time since losing a decision to WBC champion Azumah Nelson. Ruelas’ opponent is Ben Lopez (20-11-1).
Paul Banke (21-7), the former WBC junior-featherweight champion, faces Antonio Ramirez (14-4-1) in Banke’s first fight since he was knocked out March 20, 1992, by Kennedy McKinney.
In the fourth feature, unbeaten Marco Antonio Barrera (26-0) faces Eduardo Ramirez (25-13-4) in a 12-round super-flyweight fight.
