Consumer advocate and author Ralph Nader will speak on airline safety, health-insurance reform and other consumer issues when he appears Thursday at Thousand Oaks’ Cal Lutheran University.
Nader, a former lawyer, gained national attention in 1966 when he challenged the safety standards of Chevrolet’s Corvair.
His talk, titled “Consumer Issues of the ‘90s,” will also include discussion of misleading packaging on over-the-counter drugs and how consumers can best educate themselves on the purchases they make.
Nader’s most recent book, “The Big Boys: Power and Position in American Business,” was published in 1990.
A book due out later this year will be about airline safety.
Nader will speak at 8 p.m. in Cal Lutheran’s Samuelson Chapel.
The talk will run about one hour, 10 minutes, with time reserved afterward for questions from the audience, Cal Lutheran officials said.
Admission is $5 or free with a Cal Lutheran ID.
