One day after firing offensive coordinator Jack Burns, the Minnesota Vikings hired Dick Coury, former New England Patriot offensive coordinator and Ram quarterback coach, as an offensive consultant. Before joining the Patriots as offensive coordinator in 1991, Coury spent five seasons with the Rams.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed All-Pro cornerback Rod Woodson to a four-year, $12-million contract that makes him the NFL’s highest-paid defensive back.
