Thackeray Gets Orange Coast Past El Camino
Beverly Thackeray had 20 kills to lead Orange Coast to a four-game victory over El Camino in a nonconference volleyball match Wednesday at El Camino.
Ann-Marie Forgan added 17 kills for the Pirates (1-1), who won, 15-8, 15-8, 15-12, 15-9.
In other nonconference women’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, Los Angeles Pierce 0--Heidi Emmrich and Vanessa Dahl each had nine kills as the Rustlers (2-0) defeated visiting Pierce, 15-2, 15-5, 15-5. Pierce is 2-1.
Southwestern 3, Rancho Santiago 1--Rancho Santiago (1-2) loss a tough nonconference match to San Diego Southwestern, 16-14, 15-7, 19-17, 15-11. Brenda Parks had 11 kills and 28 digs in the loss. Southwestern is 1-0.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
Orange Coast 7, Cerritos 0--Rafael Mosqueda scored three goals and Martin Holmqvist scored two for host Orange Coast (3-0-2). The Pirates held Cerritos to one shot on goal.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Long Beach City 2, Orange Coast 1--Alicia Lopez scored two second-half goals for visiting Long Beach City (1-0-3). Jenna Biefeld scored her fourth goal of the season to give host Orange Coast (6-4-0) a 1-0 halftime lead.
