Mother, 2 Children Struck by Car
A woman and her two young children were seriously injured Saturday night when they were struck by a car while crossing a street, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Sunday.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m. along a dark, unmarked section of Muirlands Boulevard near El Toro Road, Sheriff’s Lt. Ron Wilkerson said.
The mother and one child were in critical condition and the other child was in stable condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, Wilkerson said. Their names and ages and the extent of their injuries were not released.
Wilkerson said the woman was pushing one child in a shopping cart and holding the hand of the other child, who was walking beside her, when they were hit by the car.
The driver was not cited, Wilkerson said.
