Baughman’s Passing Leads Bolsa Grande Over La Quinta

Bolsa Grande quarterback Brian Baughman passed for 260 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Matadors to a 32-24 victory over La Quinta in a Garden Grove League game Thursday night at Bolsa Grande.

Baughman, who completed 13 of 27 passes, connected with Kevin Michini on all three of his touchdown passes. A 76-yard strike in the first quarter gave Bolsa Grande (2-2, 1-0) a 7-6 lead less than two minutes into the game. Michini added scoring receptions of 15 and nine yards in the second half. He finished the game with seven receptions for 151 yards.

La Quinta (1-3, 0-1) led, 18-12, at halftime with the help of two touchdowns by Watson Visuwan. Visuwan, a senior, opened the scoring by returning an interception 68 yards for a score only 59 seconds into the contest. He added a 12-yard scoring run in the second quarter. Visuwan paced the Aztec rushing game, gaining 41 yards in 14 carries.

Although Bolsa Grande’s offense was centered around Baughman’s passing, the Matadors also ran the ball effectively with Hae Sung, who gained 124 yards in 20 carries. Sung added a six-yard, third-quarter touchdown run.
