Two people were shot, one of them fatally, in separate incidents early Saturday, Anaheim and Santa Ana police said.

Raymond Carranza, 31, of Fullerton was found dead of a gunshot wound to the upper torso at 2:41 a.m. in the 100 block of East Commercial Street in Anaheim, Sgt. Thomas Lahmon said.

Police did not have a suspect or a motive in the shooting.

An hour and a half later in Santa Ana, an unidentified man about 25 years old was shot as he stood in the 800 block of North English Street, police said.

Witnesses told police that someone in a brown pickup truck stopped shortly after 4 a.m., got out of his vehicle and fired six times at the man, who remained hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his chest. But there were no suspects or motive in the shooting, which police believe may have been gang-related.

“We don’t even know who the guy is,” Sgt. Dick Faust said. “At 4:11 in the morning, you don’t have too many witnesses. Everybody was uncooperative.”
