The ‘Art for Life’ Auction to Help Those With AIDS

Share

Art benefits life in the “Art for Life” auction, which will have its fourth annual event 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Art Illusion Gallery in Camarillo.

As in past years, artworks will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to the Ventura-based AIDS CARE INC., a nonprofit organization that provides support to those with HIV or AIDS and their families.

The auction--led by auctioneer Ron Halleron--and the wine and appetizer reception feature entertainment and an appearance by actress Linda Kelsey, known for her role on TV’s Lou Grant Show. Kelsey is honorary chairwoman of the event.

James Graca of Graca Design Group in Ventura is the featured artist this year. His clever graphic merging of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa with Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry, Starry Night” is the auction’s signature image.

Last year’s auction raised more than $17,000 and the organizers hope to raise more this year.

Tickets for the semiformal evening are $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door. The silent auction begins at 7 p.m., and the live auction begins at 9. The gallery is at 540 N. Las Posas Road. For more information, call 484-9181 or 643-0446.
