Whittier Christian Done In by Flanker Turned Back, 19-0

Micha Blankenship spent the first half at flanker and failed to touch the ball.

Malibu Kilpatrick Coach Glenn Bell decided to put him in the backfield for the second half.

Blankenship obliged by running for 141 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Mustangs past Whittier Christian, 19-0, Friday night at Whittier College.

Kilpatrick scored first early in the second quarter. With third down and seven yards to go, quarterback Julio Valladarus connected with Jarvis Williams on a 77-yard touchdown pass play, giving the Mustangs (2-3) a 6-0 lead with 11 minutes 45 seconds in the half.

The Heralds (0-4-1) threatened late in second quarter after what appeared to be a 37-yard run by Lance Jordan. But the play was called back on a clipping penalty and Whittier Christian failed to score.

On Kilpatrick’s opening drive of the third quarter, Blankenship carried the ball five times for 70 yards, including a 18-yard touchdown run to give the Mustangs a 12-0 lead.

Blankenship scored again with 1:56 left in the third quarter on a 73-yard run to give the Mustangs a commanding 19-0 lead.
