Colaizzi, a highly ranked junior player, has had her share of success in the Sea View League. As a freshman, she was the runner-up in the league singles championship; as a sophomore, she won the title; as a junior she reached the semifinals despite an arm injury. Last week, she helped the Sailors, top-ranked in Orange County, remain undefeated. She won, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0, in a 14-4 victory over University and swept her sets, 6-4, 6-1, 6-0, in a 9-9 (79-75 in games) victory over previously unbeaten Corona del Mar, the third-ranked team in the county.
Other notables:
* Tina Daly, Edison, had 14 kills and 17 digs in a four-game victory over Fountain Valley, the Barons’ first league loss of the volleyball season.
* Misty May, Newport Harbor, had 38 kills in the Sailors’ five-game Sea View League victory over Corona del Mar.
* Kim Nelson, Canyon, set a cross-country course record atCanyon, finishing 3.1 miles in 18 minutes 13 seconds in a victory over Santa Ana Valley.
* Amy Steele, Laguna Hills, had 40 kills in the Hawks’ five-game Pacific Coast League volleyball victory over Estancia.
