SOUTHERN SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Quartz Hill Keeps Rolling Along Behind Total Team Effort, 48-13

Opportunistic defense and five touchdown passes by Brad Norris led Quartz Hill High to a 48-13 victory over Highland in a Golden League opener Friday night at Antelope Valley College.

The unbeaten Rebels (6-0, 1-0 in league play), who capitalized on five turnovers and three blocked punts, are off to their best start in 26 years.

Quartz Hill blew the game open late in the second quarter, scoring 27 points in the final 6 minutes 10 seconds of the half.

Senior defensive back Jeremy Sanders set up four scores with two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a blocked punt. Keith Lilley opened the scoring with a 25-yard interception return and later blocked a punt.

Norris completed 12 of 23 passes for 211 yards. Two of his scoring tosses went to Troy Searcy.
