Cathy Dodge Is Disqualified From Boston Marathon, Too
Cathy Dodge, the fifth-place finisher in the women’s masters division of this year’s Boston Marathon, was disqualified for failing to run the entire 26.2-mile course. The name of Dodge, 43, from Canyon Country, was removed from the results after an official review of race checkpoint data compiled by the Boston Athletic Assn. found that Dodge did not run the course April 19.
The investigation began after Dodge was disqualified from the July 23 San Francisco Marathon under similar circumstances and San Francisco race officials asked for the Boston organizers to review their race results.
Bernardine Portenski of New Zealand won the masters division in 2 hours 41 minutes 18 seconds. Elizabeth Oberli-Schuh of Germany was moved up one spot into fifth place with a time of 3:01:19.
