Liufau Scores 4 Times
in Rio Mesa’s Romp
Junior Liufau rushed for 193 yards and four touchdowns in 16 carries to lead Rio Mesa High to a 42-7 Channel League victory over Hueneme on Thursday night at Rio Mesa.
The Spartans (5-3, 2-3 in league play) gained 468 yards and limited the Vikings (1-7, 0-5) to 128 yards.
Rio Mesa’s Steve Arneson, who completed three of seven passes, connected on a 19-yard pass to Eric Jackson to open the scoring and completed a six-yard scoring pass to Ted Rust for a 28-7 halftime lead.
Ronnie Jenkins scored Hueneme’s only touchdown on a 14-yard run to tie the score, 7-7, early in the second quarter. Jenkins gained 81 yards in 13 carries.
