Not even a trip to Chicago Stadium could slow the Toronto Maple Leafs, who extended an NHL record by winning their first 10 games of the season.

Wendel Clark scored twice and Felix Potvin (9-0-0) stopped 46 shots as the Maple Leafs defeated the Blackhawks, 4-2, to end a 14-game winless streak at Chicago Stadium.

Toronto’s last victory at Chicago was Dec. 22, 1989.

Clark’s two goals keyed a three-goal second period after Chicago’s Darin Kimble scored for the Blackhawks at 3:12 of the period to make it 1-0.

“We know one of these days the streak is going to end,” Clark said. “That is why we don’t get overconfident in this dressing room. Tonight, I was able to pop in a couple of goals, but every game, it has been somebody else.”

The Maple Leafs also established a club record for most consecutive victories at any point of the season. The Pittsburgh Penguins set an NHL record with 17 victories in a row late last season.
