Thousand Oaks 21, Channel Islands 0--Middle linebacker George McGuire began the second half at fullback and guided host Thousand Oaks to its first win.
The Lancers (1-6-1, 1-3-1) led, 7-0, at halftime on a two-yard scoring run by tailback Greg Johnson. On Thousand Oaks’ first possession of the second half, the Lancers drove 71 yards in 13 plays and consumed seven minutes, capped by quarterback Jason Brown’s two-yard scoring run. McGuire carried 10 times for 60 yards in the drive and finished with 80 yards in 11 carries.
Defensive back Greg Aguilar stopped Channel Islands’ most serious scoring opportunity when he ran down Tony Moore on the two-yard line following a 56-yard run. Aguilar recovered a fumble on the next play. Moore finished with 84 yards in five carries.
Bill Sperry completed the scoring with a 39-yard run in the fourth quarter.
