Goran Ivanisevic was making it look too easy.

The crowd occasionally booed Ivanisevic, who had 27 aces and 32 service winners in winning the $2.1-million Paris Open Sunday, 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) over Andrei Medvedev.

“I don’t care,” Ivanisevic said of the booing. “They want five sets, but I don’t want to play five sets.”

It was the ninth-seeded Croatian’s ninth career title and third this year. It was the third consecutive final in which Ivanisevic played; he won at Vienna two weeks ago and lost at Stockholm last week. Medvedev, seeded eighth, was in his first indoor final.

Ivanisevic has made a strong comeback after suffering a stress fracture in his right foot early this year.

“After the U.S. Open, I went to practice more,” he said. “I started to play with more fun.”

Ivanisevic was impressive in beating No. 1-ranked Pete Sampras, No. 6 Stefan Edberg, No. 7 Michael Chang and No. 8 Medvedev in his final four matches.

“To beat four top-10 guys in one tournament is not easy,” Ivanisevic said.

Martina Navratilova improved to 33-1 in matches against Zina Garrison Jackson, scoring a 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) victory for her fifth singles title of the year in the Bank of the West Classic at Oakland.

“Zina plays a totally different game than the others I played this week,” said Navratilova, the world’s third-ranked player. “I was more mentally ready today than I was for the others.”

Navratilova won the tournament for the fifth time and posted her 166th career singles title.

“Once I got into the tiebreaker I was confident,” Navratilova said. “Everything was working. I was faultless. I served well and backed it up with a decent volley.”

Nathalie Tauziat won her first tournament in three years when she defeated Katerina Maleeva, 6-4, 6-1, in the Bell Challenge in Quebec City, Canada.
