Grounded Air Tankers

* I was appalled to hear that several C-130 air tankers sat on the ground for two days, ready to go, while waiting for some yahoo up the chain of command to give the pilots the OK to fly. I am sure that if they flew when the fires started, many homes and burned acreage would have been saved.

This is because of some 1922 law that ensures private contractors be contacted before the National Guard planes can go. Surely the law can be overruled by someone in an emergency like this. Someone’s head should roll.
