A $10,000 reward is being offered by Ventura County for information leading to the capture and conviction of the arsonist who set the Green Meadow fire, which charred 42,000 acres near Thousand Oaks and destroyed more than two dozen homes.

The County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the reward Tuesday.

“If someone comes forward because of the reward . . . it’s a small price to pay,” Supervisor Maria VanderKolk said.

Arson investigators have no suspects, although they have followed up on dozens of leads, said county fire spokeswoman Sandi Wells.

Investigators are still trying to find a woman in her 30s who was one of the first people to report the fire. “We have more questions we’d like to ask her,” Wells said.

VanderKolk said she proposed the reward for the Green Meadow fire because it caused more than $12 million in property damage, more than three other brush fires in Ventura County combined.

Larger rewards are being offered by other agencies for fires outside the county, including a $250,000 reward for the arsonist who started the Malibu fire.
