Jogger Finds Man’s Body in Santa Clarita
The nude body of an unidentified 50-year-old man who apparently walked away from a San Fernando Valley hospital was discovered Saturday by a jogger in a brush-covered area near a traffic intersection, authorities said.
The jogger discovered the body about 8 a.m. near Newhall Ranch Road and Grandview Drive, said Lt. John Vander Horck of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators do not believe foul play was connected with the man’s death, Vander Horck said in a prepared statement. Authorities withheld the man’s identity until relatives could be notified.
The man apparently wandered away from the hospital and became disoriented, then disrobed and died of exposure, authorities said.
Investigators would not reveal at what hospital the man was a patient, when he was reported missing or how he traveled to Santa Clarita. “Until we are able to identify him and notify the next of kin, that’s all anybody knows,” said Sgt. Barry Sandstrom.
