A 6-year-old Encino boy was killed when he and his parents were struck by a car as they crossed Lindley Avenue in the middle of a block, police said Friday.

Michael Luderstein and his parents Alex and Diana were crossing the street at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, in front of their apartment building in the 5400 block of Lindley Avenue, when Tillie Bay, 80, of Woodland Hills hit the three pedestrians as she drove north, said Officer Paul Wunderle of the Valley Traffic division.

All three were brought to Tarzana Hospital. Alex and Diana Luderstein complained of leg pain but were not admitted to the hospital. Michael was pronounced dead at 10:55 p.m., with head, internal and leg injuries.

No charges were filed against Bay, Wunderle said.

“They were jaywalking,” Wunderle said. “It means that they don’t have the right of way. Being dark out, the lights being quite a ways away, the 80-year-old probably didn’t see them.”
