OUTLOOK

Except for Cugno, the Minutemen have no senior starters. But that doesn’t mean the team is in dire straits. Returning starter Rendon will give Liberty Christian some good ball control and Vaccaro, who averaged 12.1 rebounds last season, will provide some strength underneath. Vaccaro was a first-team, all-league selection and Rendon was named to the second team. And though it looks as if Weddle will be starting the season with four sophomores, it still looks better than last year, when the starting lineup included three freshmen and a sophomore. Nevertheless, the Minutemen finished 3-3 in league and tied for second place. Weddle is expecting more this season, perhaps even competing for a league title. He stresses that a tough defense is going to be the key. “If we play good defense and get good outside shooting to take some pressure off Vaccaro inside, we may have a chance to be competitive with all the teams in our league,” Weddle said.
