Richard Beatie, an offensive tackle at Glendale College, has been named to the J.C. Grid-Wire All-American offensive first team and teammate Pathon Rucker was named to the second team.

Beatie (6-foot-6, 290 pounds) is a sophomore from San Gabriel High. Rucker, second in the state in rushing with 1,684 yards behind City College of San Francisco’s Daymon Carter (1,721 yards), is a sophomore from Glendale High.

Cal Lutheran wide receiver Pete Marine and defensive back John Wilson have been named to the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team.

Marine, a 6-foot, 190-pound junior, had 60 receptions for 810 yards and six touchdowns this season. He also ran for one touchdown and scored another on a punt return.

Wilson (6-foot, 187) had one interception, returning it 52 yards for a touchdown.

Offensive lineman Kirt Cothran (6-3, 200), defensive lineman Eric Lundring (5-11, 210), and linebackers Chris Peltonen (6-2, 200) and Corey Undlin (6-1, 200) were second-team selections.

Lundring had a team-high 66 tackles and was tied for the team lead in sacks with six.

Sites and times were announced for the City Section high school finals.

The 4-A Division championship is scheduled for El Camino College in Torrance on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. Sylmar, which defeated Carson last year at El Camino, is the defending champion.

The 3-A final is set for Friday, Dec. 10, at Gardena High at 7:30 p.m. San Pedro is the defending champion.

The semifinals are this Friday night.

Notre Dame’s Southern Section Division IV semifinal playoff game against Canyon Springs on Friday at 7:30 p.m. has been moved to Birmingham High to accommodate a larger crowd, Notre Dame Coach Kevin Rooney said.

The game originally was scheduled to be played at Notre Dame.

Shaun Williams, Crespi’s standout running back and defensive back, was named Del Rey League most valuable player.

Williams (6-2, 180) has gained 1,749 yards and scored 23 touchdowns. The senior also has three interceptions for the Celts (8-4), who will face Eisenhower in a Southern Section Division I semifinal Saturday.

St. Genevieve senior lineman Iggy Sanchez (6-2, 235) has been named Santa Fe League defensive player of the year.

Crescenta Valley running back Erik LaCom has been named Pacific League offensive player of the year. LaCom ran for 1,134 yards and 19 touchdowns in 197 carries.

Basketball

Valley College center Eric Grayson, a 6-6 sophomore from Van Nuys High, was named the Western State Conference men’s player of the week. Grayson, a transfer from Los Angeles City, scored 23 points and had 20 rebounds in two games at the Hemet tournament.

The men’s teams from Oxnard, Ventura and Moorpark colleges open play today in the first round of the eight-team Moorpark tournament. Canyons and Antelope Valley will start play in the six-team Antelope Valley tournament.

In the Moorpark tournament, Oxnard (1-4) will face Pasadena City at 4 p.m., Ventura (6-1) meets Trade Tech at 6 p.m. and Moorpark (5-2) will play Harbor at 8 p.m.

The semifinals are Friday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and the championship game is Saturday at 8 p.m.

At Antelope Valley, Canyons (1-3) will face the host Marauders (5-2) in a first-round game tonight at 7. The tournament semifinals are Friday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., and the final is Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tennis

Erin Boisclair, 13, of Agoura Hills won the U.S. Tennis Assn. national girls’ 14-and-under singles and doubles championships Monday in St. Louis. Boisclair, a student at Lindero Canyon Middle School, defeated Jenny Miller of Savannah, Ga., 6-2, 6-0, to win the singles championship.

In doubles, Boisclair and partner Julie Ditty of Ashland, Ky., defeated Kathy Sell (Moorestown, N.J.) and Shannon Duffy (Plano, Tex.), 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

Soccer

The Las Virgenes Soccer Club of Agoura won the championship in the boys’ 19-and-under silver division at a tournament in Tempe, Ariz. The team, which includes players from Calabasas, Agoura, Thousand Oaks and Westlake highs, beat Tempe, 2-1, in the championship match.
