Malibu : Relief From Water Charges
The County Board of Supervisors has approved a package of financial relief measures tailored especially for victims of last month’s Malibu fire.
Among other things, the county will allow owners of destroyed homes and businesses within county Waterworks District No. 29, which serves the Malibu area, to write off all water charges for the billing cycle in which the fire occurred.
A spokesman for Supervisor Ed Edelman, who represents Malibu and who introduced the measures, said owners of properties that were saved during the blaze may also qualify for a 50% discount on the cost of water that exceeds normal usage.
