SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Six people were injured, at least two seriously, in a car accident in Oxnard Saturday evening, authorities said.

A white BMW with five people inside slammed into the side of an orange Chevrolet Camaro when the Camaro attempted to make a left turn from Victoria Avenue onto Teal Club Road, witnesses said.

The accident forced police to close the intersection briefly as firefighters used lifesaving equipment to extract one of the victims from the BMW.

The driver of the Camaro escaped serious injury, but the passenger in the Camaro and all five occupants of the BMW were transported to area hospitals, according to firefighters at the scene.

A woman and her daughter suffered serious injuries; the daughter suffered a broken pelvis. Both were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, hospital officials said. Another woman was listed in stable condition at Ventura County Medical Center, officials there said.

The conditions of the other victims were not available and the names of those involved were not released Saturday.
