GIRLS’ BASKETBALL : Warnick Scores 22, Trabuco Hills Wins

Debbie Warnick scored 22 points to lead Trabuco Hills to a 56-50 victory over Magnolia in the first round of the Bolsa Grande girls’ basketball tournament Monday.

Barbara Henderson added 13 for the Mustangs, who held on after leading by nine after three quarters.

Andrea Picchi had 21 points to lead Magnolia in scoring.

In other tournament games:

San Clemente 58, Santa Ana 37--Michelle Macintyre scored 17 points for San Clemente (4-1).

Laguna Hills 48, Bolsa Grande 31--Romy Christensen scored 13 points and Tayyiba Haneef added 12 to lead Laguna Hills in the first round. Rita Pula scored 10 points to lead Bolsa Grande.

In the Cypress tournament:

Kennedy 48, Buena Park 26--Noelani Westall scored 11 points, Erryn Gutjahr had nine and Karin Kitidawa added eight points, four assists and four steals to lead Kennedy in the second round. Margaret Bacon scored a game-high 14 points to lead Buena Park.

Huntington Beach 78, Torrance 55--Monica Geraci had 21 points and seven rebounds and Rene Kimoto added 18 points and six assists to lead Huntington Beach (3-2) in consolation play.

Newport Harbor 47, University 26--Genevieve Evarts scored 16 points and had nine rebounds for Newport Harbor (3-2) in a consolation game.

In nonleague play:

Calvary Chapel 37, La Puente 24--Blythe Linsay had a game-high 29 points and 21 rebounds to lead Calvary Chapel (4-1).

Savanna 37, Cerritos Whitney 36--Amy Klingelsmith scored a game-high 23 points and Jessica Hernandez added 10 to lead Savanna (1-0).

Whittier Christian 53, Whittier California 33--Alana Kempton had 25 points and 11 rebounds for visiting Whittier (4-3). Monique Moreno added 14 points.
