Crenshaw Appearing in 2 Classics
Crenshaw High, last year’s City Section 4-A Division and State Division I basketball champions, will make its first appearance in the Barnett Bank City of Palms Classic on Saturday in Fort Myers, Fla.
Ranked No. 2 in the nation by USA Today, the Cougars then will go to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for its second appearance in the Beach Ball Classic, Dec. 26-30. Loyola will also play in that tournament.
Locally, Salesian High will host its first CIF Southern Section-City Section Challenge basketball tournament starting Monday.
The four-team tournament features Jordan, Roosevelt, Kilpatrick and Salesian.
Santa Monica College, Washington and Gardena high schools are the host sites for the 32-team Pacific Open Basketball Tournament, which began Friday.
On Monday, consolation games begin at 9 a.m. at Washington.
