SIMI VALLEY : Minor Adjustments in General Plan OKd

Share

The Simi Valley City Council has voted to update its General Plan, calling for expedited construction of a proposed fire station, and updated wildlife protection policies and land-use plans.

Under the revised General Plan approved Monday by the council, the city will actively seek to preserve contiguous open areas instead of allowing them to be separated into small areas separated by development.

The updated plan sets as a priority the construction of a fire station near the proposed extension of 1st Street and Erringer Road north of the Simi Valley Freeway. It also revises the list of historical landmarks and eases landmark designation rules to reflect recent decisions by the City Council.

The General Plan underwent a major overhaul four years ago, and the changes made this week are considered minor adjustments, city staff members told the council.
