COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : TODAY’S GAMES : Colorado, Fresno St. in Aloha
No. 17 Colorado will be playing to protect the Big Eight Conference’s reputation and No. 24 Fresno State will be playing to further establish its credibility today when the teams meet in the Aloha Bowl at 12:30 PDT in Honolulu.
“The Big Eight has something at stake here,” said Bill McCartney, Colorado coach. “We’re not a conference that’s done well out of conference. I think it’s important that we win.”
Jim Sweeney of Fresno State said his approach was not so much representing the Western Athletic Conference, but in developing credibility for his program. Fresno State surprised USC last year in the Freedom Bowl.
