COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY BOWL REPORT : LIBERTY : Louisville Hopes for a First
Louisville Coach Howard Schnellenberger hasn’t had to remind his players of his team’s opportunity against Michigan State in tonight’s Liberty Bowl at Memphis, Tenn.
“My players are smart enough to know that they’ve never beaten a Big Ten school,” Schnellenberger said. “For the University of Louisville to go to a bowl game in itself is big stuff.”
No. 25 Louisville (8-3) has earned a bowl berth after two sub-par seasons to face Michigan State (6-5), another team coming off back-to-back losing seasons.
Louisville, which will be playing Michigan State for the first time, is 0-5-1 against Big Ten teams.
