VENTURA : Fire Causes $25,000 in Damage to House
Fire swept through a Ventura home late New Year’s Day, causing $25,000 in damage but no injuries to residents or firefighters, authorities said.
The 9:15 p.m. blaze destroyed a den, part of a bedroom, and caused heat and smoke damage in other parts of the house at 82 Leighton Drive, Ventura Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Lavery said.
Lavery said the fire was put out in about 10 minutes. Five Fire Department vehicles and 14 firefighters responded to the blaze.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, Lavery said.
