Retired Developer to Join Wilson Cabinet
Gov. Pete Wilson has named a retired San Diego developer to head the state Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.
Dean Dunphy, 69, retired president and chief executive officer of Dunphy Construction Co., was active in redevelopment and public transit issues in San Diego when Wilson was mayor of that city. He has been a member of the California Transportation Commission since 1991.
As secretary of business, transportation and housing, Dunphy will oversee 11 departments, including the Highway Patrol, Caltrans and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
