FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Volunteers Sought for City Panels
Volunteers are needed to serve on various city committees and commissions.
The deadline to apply is today and applications are available in the city clerk’s office, 10200 Slater Ave. Deadline to submit applications is 5 p.m.
Seats on the following are open:
* Planning Commission; makes recommendations to the City Council regarding such issues as development, subdivision of land, the city’s Master Plan, blighted and substandard areas, and zoning and land use.
* Community Services Commission; formulates policies on recreation services.
* Traffic Committee; assists in the preparation and publication of traffic reports, receives complaints regarding traffic issues and makes recommendations to improve traffic.
* Housing and Community Development Advisory Board; reviews the city’s block grant program and other housing issues.
* Advisory Committee for the Disabled; oversees the development of facilities for people with disabilities and oversees recreational, informational and educational programs for people with disabilities.
* Fountain Valley Improvement Authority; responsible for the approval of the annual audit of financial activities.
* Alcohol and Drug Awareness Committee; addresses drug-related issues in the areas of education, intervention and enforcement efforts.
* Environmental Education Team; serves to educate public understanding of waste management issues.
