NBA ROUNDUP : Magic Runs Over the Rockets

Shaquille O’Neal and Anfernee Hardaway each scored 28 points, and the Orlando Magic used a 13-0 fourth-quarter run to break open a close game and defeat the Houston Rockets, 115-100, Monday night at Orlando.

The Magic outscored the Rockets, 17-4, in the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter and became only the fifth team in 30 games to make at least 50% of its shots against the Rockets, who lead the league in field-goal defense.

After averaging 14 points in two games against Hakeem Olajuwon last season, O’Neal made 13 of 19 shots, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked one shot.

Olajuwon had 26 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.

Tree Rollins, a Magic assistant coach who signed a 10-day contract to come out of retirement as a backup for O’Neal, played eight minutes and had two points, two rebounds, one steal and one block.

Philadelphia 99, Boston 94--Jeff Hornacek scored 31 points and had 10 rebounds as the 76ers overcame a rally by the Celtics at Philadelphia.

Clarence Weatherspoon added 20 points and 12 rebounds for the 76ers.
