MISSION VIEJO : 2 Names Added to Saddleback Search

Share

Saddleback Community College District trustees have added two candidates to their search for a new chancellor after two previous prospects removed themselves from consideration.

Donald L. Singer, president of San Bernardino Valley College, and Larry L. Stanley, president of College of the Mainland in Texas City, Tex., were interviewed last week.

Singer, who has also served as president of Crafton Hills College in the San Bernardino Community College District, holds doctorate of philosophy, master of science and bachelor of arts degrees from USC.

Stanley was named College of the Mainland president after serving as chairman of the school’s arts and humanities department and its division of fine arts. He holds a master of arts degree from Sam Houston State University and a bachelor of science degree from Baylor University.

Trustees in December interviewed four finalists: Clarence W. Mangham, administrator of facilities planning and credentials for California Community Colleges in Sacramento; Theodore Tilton, provost of the central campus of the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Jerry W. Young, superintendent / president of Chaffey Community College in Rancho Cucamonga; and Dianne G. Van Hook, superintendent / president of Santa Clarita Community College District.

Van Hook recently withdrew her name from consideration, as did another unnamed candidate before being interviewed.

Although trustees previously said they hoped to name their selection before the holidays, they have given no new target date since broadening their search.

Anna L. McFarlin, Irvine Valley College president, has been serving as interim chancellor since Aug. 31, when Chancellor Richard Sneed retired.
