3 Treated After Fumes Prompt Evacuation
Three people were taken to two hospitals Sunday night after being overcome by fumes from a hazardous material stored in a garage.
One man and one woman were taken to Huntington Beach Medical Center with headaches. A second woman, who was pregnant and complained of nausea, was taken to Western Medical Center-Anaheim.
Five homes were evacuated in the 7800 block of 21st Street.
Late Sunday, firefighters and hazardous materials teams from Huntington Beach and Newport Beach were still not able to identify the chemical, which was spilled from an unmarked container and was believed to be a pesticide, a fire spokesman said.
