Dennis Rodman grabbed a team-record 32 rebounds, two short of his career high, as the San Antonio Spurs handed the Dallas Mavericks their 13th consecutive defeat, 103-83, at San Antonio on Saturday night.

Rodman also set another Spur record with 20 rebounds in the first half. The Mavericks, losers of 13 in a row, finished with only 37 rebounds.

Rodman, who left the game for more than five minutes in the third quarter because of a bloody nose, broke his team rebounding record of 29, set against Minnesota on Nov. 29.

Before this season, the San Antonio club record was 25 by Edgar Jones and Artis Gilmore. Rodman’s career high is 34 for Detroit against Indiana in 1992.

Denver 98, Seattle 91--Bryant Stith scored seven of his 14 points in the final seven minutes and sparked an 8-0 run that carried the Nuggets at Denver.

Denver, which defeated Houston on Thursday night and now has beaten the NBA’s top two teams in consecutive games, got 22 points from Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.

Houston 106, Utah 101--Hakeem Olajuwon scored 25 of his 40 points in the second half and made a key steal with 15 seconds to play at Houston as the Rockets ended a four-game losing streak.

With Houston leading, 100-98, with 15 seconds left, Jeff Malone rebounded a missed Houston shot, but Olajuwon slapped the ball into the hands of teammate Mario Elie.

Orlando 121, Philadelphia 112--Shaquille O’Neal was 15 of 16 from the field--mostly on dunks--and scored 33 points at Philadelphia to lead the Magic.

O’Neal, the league’s leading scorer at 28.8 points per game, is averaging 33 over his last six games.

Rookie Shawn Bradley had a season-high 24 points for Philadelphia, which lost its fourth in a row.

Phoenix 118, Portland 117--Cedric Ceballos scored a career-high 40 points, including two free throws with 6.7 seconds to play, for the Suns at Phoenix, helping to end the Trail Blazers’ five-game winning streak.

The Trail Blazers had two chances to win in the closing seconds. Rod Strickland missed a 15-footer, but Phoenix knocked the ball out of bounds with 0.7 seconds remaining.

Clifford Robinson, who led Portland with 34 points, missed a 12-footer as time expired.

New Jersey 124, Golden State 98--Kenny Anderson had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and led an 82-point second half at East Rutherford, N.J., that carried the Nets to their season-high fifth consecutive victory.

Armon Gilliam added 23 points as the Nets ended an 11-year, 10-game home-court losing streak to the Warriors and handed Golden State its worst loss of the year.

Washington 98, Detroit 93--Don MacLean scored 31 points and made the go-ahead basket in the fourth quarter at Baltimore as the Bullets handed the Pistons their 15th loss in 16 games.

MacLean’s 12-foot baseline shot with 8:28 to play broke a 77-77 tie, giving the Bullets a lead they never lost. Pervis Ellison followed with a 19-footer from the corner.

Charlotte 91, Milwaukee 80--Dell Curry awakened Charlotte’s offense in the fourth quarter and finished with 21 points, leading the Hornets at Charlotte.

The Hornets rebounded from Friday night’s loss at Milwaukee despite losing Alonzo Mourning on an ejection and having Larry Johnson on the bench because of a lower back sprain.

Chicago 90, Indiana 81--Scottie Pippen scored 22 points, including a key basket with 47 seconds to play at Indianapolis, as the Bulls beat the Pacers for the second time in as many days.

The Bulls didn’t need a last-second basket as they did Friday night, when Toni Kukoc beat the buzzer with his three-pointer in a 96-95 victory at Chicago.

Atlanta 98, Minnesota 81--Kevin Willis scored a season-high 34 points, compensating for teammate Dominique Wilkins’ three-for-18 shooting and leading the Hawks at Minneapolis.

Willis made 15 of 21 shots and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Cleveland 119, Sacramento 109--Brad Daugherty’s 27 points led the Cavaliers over the Kings in overtime at Sacramento.

Larry Nance and Mark Price each added 22 points. Spud Webb and Lionel Simmons each had 22 for the Kings.
