Just the Facts : Outstanding Scenic Byways

Scenic America, a national conservation organization, has released its annual list of America’s Most Outstanding Scenic Byways. Although the term scenic byway conjures up images of meandering rural roadway, these top 10 were selected because they possess significant scenic, historic and naural resources. They are:

* White Mountain Scenic Road -ARIZONA

* San Juan Skyway -COLORADO

* Pennsylvania Avenue -NW WASHINGTON D.C. (connects the Capitol to the White House)

* State Route 6A -CAPE COD, MASS.

* Dickinson Road -WISCASSET, MAINE

* North Shore Drive -MINNESOTA

* Natchez Trace Parkway -MISSISSIPPI, ALABAMA and TENNESSEE

* Going-to-the-Sun Road -MONTANA

* Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway -S. DAKOTA

* State Route 100 -VERMONT
