Jason Kidd scored 27 points, including 10 of his team’s last 13, to lead No. 19 California to a 67-61 victory over Oregon State Thursday night at Corvallis, Ore.

California, 13-4 overall and 6-2 in the Pacific 10, also got 15 points and 11 rebounds from Lamond Murray.

Kareem Anderson scored 20 points for Oregon State (5-12, 1-7), and Jerohn Brown had a career-high 18 rebounds.

California shot only 32% in the first half, but still led 28-26 at the break.

Murray, the Pac-10’s leading scorer, made only three of 15 shots in the first half and finished seven for 26 from the field.

Oregon State took several one-point leads in the second half, the last coming at 42-41 with 11:58 remaining after Brent Barry’s three-point play.

But California went on an 8-0 run and Oregon State didn’t get any closer than three points afterward.

Kidd finished 11 of 15 from the field, with seven assists and two steals, which made him California’s career steal leader with 167, passing Butch Hays’ record set in 1984.

Stanford 69, Oregon 67--Freshman point guard Brevin Knight hit a driving layup with one second remaining as Stanford (12-5, 5-3) survived a late rally for a victory over Oregon (6-11, 2-6) in Eugene, Ore.

Oregon tied the score with 22 seconds left when Orlando Williams hit a three-point shot, but Knight brought the ball back up the court and, with only five seconds left, drove the left baseline and put up the shot between three Oregon centers.

Aaron Johnson’s half-court shot at the buzzer fell short, allowing the Cardinal to escape with the win.

The Cardinal led by at least 10 points for most of the second half.

Arizona State 59, Washington 53--Stevin Smith scored the game’s final five points to give Arizona State (11-6, 6-2) a victory over Washington (2-15, 0-8) in Seattle.

Arizona State has won six of its last seven games, and 10 in a row over Washington. Washington tied a school record by losing its ninth consecutive game and fell to 2-15, 0-8.

Smith, who scored 16 points, became the fifth-leading scorer in Arizona State history.

With the Sun Devils leading by one point and 17 seconds remaining, Smith hit a 12-foot pull-up jumper and then stole a pass at the other end of the court as Washington tried to set up a three-point attempt.

Smith turned the steal into a three-point play after he was fouled taking the ball in for a layin.
