Garcia Returns to Oxnard for 8-Round Bout
Undefeated featherweight Robert Garcia of Oxnard will fight tonight before his hometown fans for the first time in his two-year professional career.
His opponent in the eight-round bout at the Oxnard Civic Auditorium will be James Dean of Planada, Calif.
Garcia, 19, is 9-0 including eight knockouts, and is coming off a second-round KO of Hector Diaz of Mexico in Del Mar on Jan. 8.
On the undercard, Shane Mosley of Pomona (8-0, eight knockouts) will face Lorenzo Garcia (20-16) of Caldwell, Ida., in a 10-round lightweight bout.
In other events, Ramon Villanueva (4-1) of Oxnard will face Jose Ferrer (2-4) of Hanford, Calif., in a four-round lightweight bout. In a six-round junior lightweight bout, John Ramirez (8-5) of Oxnard will face Jose Manjarrez (7-6) of Westminster.
Tony Ramirez of Oxnard and Eddie Contreras of Santa Paula will make their professional debuts in four-round bouts. Ramirez fights Jose Luis Aguilar of Los Angeles and Contreras faces Roger Ruiz of Chino.
