Outspoken Clipper guard Ron Harper, who sometimes gets more attention for what he says, let his game do the talking Saturday night against the Sacramento Kings.

Harper recorded the third triple-double of his NBA career, getting 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as the Clippers handed the Kings their eighth straight road loss, 122-110, before 10,773 at the Sports Arena.

Harper, who received the game-ball after playing in his 500th NBA game, made nine of 25 shots, including two three-pointers, and made four of five free throws.

Harper didn’t know that he had played in his 500th game until informed by a reporter after the game.

“Thank you for telling me,” Harper said. “It was my 500th game . . . 500th game and a triple-double. That’s how much they know. I play my 500th game and they didn’t even tell me.

“That’s all right. It was a good 500th game. I’ll take the win. I don’t care about no triple-double.”

Clipper forward Danny Manning had 27 points and nine rebounds as the Clippers (16-27) ended a two-game losing streak.

Manning had 13 points in the third quarter, hitting six of seven shots, as the Clippers shot 66.7% and outscored Sacramento, 35-26, to overcome a six-point deficit and take a 93-88 lead into the fourth quarter.

Two others starters scored in double figures as the Clippers handed Sacramento (13-31) its ninth loss in the last 10 games.

Center Elmore Spencer, who had averaged 13 points in his last three games, scored a career-high 19 points, 13 in the first half, and grabbed seven rebounds. Rookie forward Harold Ellis had 18 points, including 14 in the second half. Guard Mark Jackson had eight points and seven assists.

Forward-center John Williams, who was suspended for the first 42 games after entering a weight reduction center at Duke University, played his first game of the season after being activated Friday.

Williams, who reportedly weighed 330 pounds before entering the weight loss center, is listed at 270 by the Clippers.

Williams, who received a warm ovation when he entered the game with 2:43 remaining in the first quarter, had three points, two rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes.

“John looked good,” Clipper Coach Bob Weiss said. “He did the things defensively for us and he made some nice passes to set up easy shots.”

Clipper Notes

Ron Grinker, Danny Manning’s agent, maintains that the Clippers won’t trade Manning because Coach Bob Weiss has asked General Manager Elgin Baylor to retain the All-Star forward. “Danny told me that Bobby Weiss says he wants him to stay there,” Grinker said. “I guess if Bobby’s going to say that, it’s going to take away from them trading him.” Weiss denied making the statement, saying that Grinker might have misinterpreted a statement he made before a recent practice. “I didn’t mention any player specifically. I said, ‘If this is the way we go to the end of the season I’ll be happy with that,”’ Weiss said. Manning declined comment. Clipper spokesman Joe Safety said: “As usual, it’s apparent that Danny’s representative is manipulating the truth.”

The Clippers, who might open the 1994-95 NBA season in Japan, are being considered to play in a four-team exhibition tournament in Mexico City before the start of next season. The other teams being considered for the tournament are Houston, San Antonio and Seattle. Details could be finalized at next weekend’s All-Star game in Minneapolis. . . . Sacramento guard Randy Brown sat out the fourth quarter after spraining his left knee in the third quarter.
