ORANGE : Officials to Consider Plans for Old School

Share

The Planning Commission will consider a proposal today to build golf driving ranges and a recreation center at the former Peralta Junior High School, 2190 Canal St.

The proposal by Super Sport Inc. of Newport Beach and the Orange Unified School District calls for the demolition of most classroom buildings and all handball courts on the 20-acre site to make way for golf practice fairways, chipping bunkers, putting greens, baseball and soccer fields, batting cages and two new parking lots. The project would also have volleyball and tennis courts, and a pro shop.

The plan includes converting a classroom building into a community child care center and using a school auditorium for nonprofit bingo games.
