FULLERTON — An elderly man was burned over 40% of his body when his apartment in the 2400 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue caught fire Thursday night, the Fire Department said.
The man’s neighbors called 911 to report the fire just after 9 p.m., saying smoke was pouring from the apartment. Units from Fullerton, Anaheim and Buena Park responded within four minutes, a fire dispatcher said, and the blaze was extinguished within seven minutes.
The injured man, who was not identified, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. The cause of the fire has not been determined, according to Battalion Chief Larry Greene.
