VENTURA : Administrators at Schools Are Honored

Administrators in the Ventura Unified School District have won awards in five out of 16 categories in an annual contest by the Assn. of California School Administrators’ Region 13, which encompasses Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Administrators who belong to the association give awards annually to peers who are considered to be the best in their jobs as principals or assistant principals or in other non-teaching positions.

This year, six winners were from Ventura County and five of the six were from the Ventura district.

Nancy Bradford, principal of Saticoy School, was named best elementary school principal in the region. Ventura High School Assistant Principal Helena Torrez-Reaves won the award for top assistant principal. Director of Certificated Personnel Jerry Dannenberg was honored as top personnel administrator.

Director of Administrative Services Arlene Miro won in the category for best central office administrator. And Valli Davis, who serves as secretary to Supt. Joseph Spirito, was honored as the best non-teaching employee who deals with confidential information.

The other regional winner in Ventura County was Gary Mortimer, a non-teaching employee in the Rio School District, Ventura school officials said.
