A bar brawl in Fillmore and a street fight in Oxnard early Saturday left two men with stab wounds, law enforcement officials said.

In Fillmore, Carlos Madrigal, 22, and a friend apparently got in an argument with three men inside the Santa Clara Cafe on Clay Street, Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Gullon said.

Witnesses said the fight started in the bar and moved out to the alley, where Madrigal was stabbed in the abdomen. He was taken to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital for surgery and was in stable condition Saturday night.

The crowd dispersed when police arrived, but officers detained several men in an alley. One of them, Manuel Barriga, 18, had two stab wounds and was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center. He was treated and released two hours later, a nursing supervisor said.
