COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Injuries Thwart Antelope Valley in Regional Basketball Playoffs

Injuries led to the demise of Antelope Valley College in an 83-79 defeat to Riverside on Wednesday night in a second-round Southern California regional playoff men’s basketball game at Riverside.

Danny Prince scored 14 points and hit four three-pointers to break the Antelope Valley career record for three-pointers with 277. He also holds school records for three-pointers in a game and season.

However, Prince suffered strained outside ligaments in his left knee with 14 minutes to play. Within a span of 30 seconds with less than five minutes to play, Marcus Cross and Brian Burleson sustained ankle injuries.

Antelope Valley (20-12) led, 74-73, with 2:30 to play, but Riverside went on an 8-2 run to gain control.

Orville Turner was high scorer for the Marauders with 19 points. Darryle Flicking led Riverside with 24.
