OUTLOOK

Though the Indians finished fifth in league last season, Hes believes his team will be more competitive this year. “We have quite a few starters coming back and the chemistry seems to be there,” Hes said. First-team all-league selection Ginter will return, along with Golisamo, whom Hes called the team’s ace. “I think we have the talent to be competitive,” he said, adding that the team also has good depth, which could be a factor later in the season. Hes points to the younger members of the team, in particular Brickell, who plays third and catches, and Almonza, an outfielder and pitcher, as ones to watch. “Of course, Troy will be the team to beat. But we hope that we’ll at least be in the running.”
