Robin Ventura hit two-run homers in his first two at-bats, and Clemente Alvarez added a grand slam in the Chicago White Sox’s 15-7 Grapefruit League victory over the Texas Rangers. Michael Jordan, making his first spring training start, drove in his first run with a sacrifice fly, but went hitless in three at-bats.

“You always think of the Mighty Casey stepping up with the bases loaded and he strikes out,” Jordan said of his sacrifice fly. “I just wanted to make contact.”

St. Louis scored nine runs in the seventh inning against former Cardinal Lee Smith and beat the Baltimore Orioles, 11-4. . . . Michael Tucker drove in five runs with three of Kansas City’s 16 hits, leading the Royals past the Houston Astros, 11-7. . . . Rookie Phil Geisler homered for the second consecutive day as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 9-4. . . . Paul O’Neill, Randy Velarde and Jim Leyritz homered as the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets, 8-0. . . . Scott Bullett and Lloyd McClendon homered to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. . . . Eddie Murray and Sandy Alomar homered to lead the Indians to a 10-3 over the Detroit Tigers. . . . Roger Clemens gave up only one hit in three scoreless innings as the Boston Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins, 9-5. . . . Jeff Blauser singled in the winning run as the Atlanta Braves beat the Montreal Expos, 3-2.
