OUTLOOK

One key to the season will be how the young Eagles respond early on when they play teams that are obviously better. “If we’re patient as coaches,” Lefebvre said, “by the time we get to the end of the season, we’re going to be a very good ball club. We have to let them grow from their mistakes.” Last year’s team started five sophomores and two freshmen; they’re back and bound to be better. Maskrey and Reightley are the starting pitchers, and there’s no lack of arm strength with Penney and Hawkins; but can they get the ball over the plate? The Eagles will have to scramble, move runners over and create their scoring opportunities because there is little power. “Believe me, there’s talent here,” Lefebvre said. “It’s just young talent.”
